My Chihuahua Daisy delivered this morning!
Posted by: | CommentsWell at 4am this morning I was watching T.V. (I have had problems sleeping with Daisy so close to due date) and Daisy was asleep in my lap. Or so I thought. I feel her suddenly jerk and see a full blown contraction. I look at my pajama pants and I’m soaked, her water has broken. I immediately take her to the whelping pallet. (Her favorite blanket that she has loved burrowing into since she was a puppy) Okay her water has broke it can be as many as 24 hours till she delivers.
That’s not what happened. Within 15 minutes of her water breaking I see the scariest contraction I’ve ever seen in a mother and bam out comes a puppy feet first. I think shit its breached, not that big of deal but makes it more difficult to get the placenta out. Out comes my first chocolate colored female puppy. Daisy can’t get the sack broke so I break it for her tie the cord and cut it clean it up and it stops breathing. Crap I must not have gotten all the fluid out. I hate doing the sling/fling method but my suction bulb isn’t getting everything out and I can hear with the assistance of a stethoscope a gurgle in her chest. So I do 4 flings and she starts making sweet sweet whines. I give over the baby to daisy and she takes over cleaning and immediately puts her pup to nursing. Read More→
Dog thrown off a bridge WTF
Posted by: | CommentsI can’t get the video to Embed Properly but you can see the video here. The dog doesn’t even die on impact you can hear it howling in pain after it happens. It does appear the dog was taken to the vet and is doing well now. The dog was gravely injured suffering from multiple fractures. I implore anyone that sees someone doing something of this grotesque nature to take action. This is not right on any level.
What the hell were these guys thinking. This isn’t funny its stupid and its horrible to animals. I think these guys should be shot!
Been doing some research these are the guy’s accounts:

Puppy Therapy for the Elderly
Posted by: | CommentsPhew today has been an extremely busy day. Spencer, Austin, and I just got back from the local retirement center. It is our second time being invited back for our puppy therapy Sundays. I really enjoy getting to take my guys and letting them show off and getting to receive all the attention from the residents. Spencer did a mini-agility course for his performance and Austin did his terminator bit (I’ll elaborate on that in a different post) Then Spencer and Austin went from room to room with me spending time with the different residents. You would be amazed at the smiles the affection from these little dogs can get. The DoN (director of nursing) also inquired about possibly placing one of my puppies there on a more permanent basis. I’m still kind of in the air on this one. Because Spencer and Austin are my performing dogs and I have spent many, many, many hours training and socializing them, hence their amazing temperaments. But, putting one of my puppies in a situation on a permanent basis that he/she may or may not receive the attention it deserves, that I’m not so sure of.
I’ve worked in nursing homes as a CNA before and seen what could happen to a puppy put in that situation. This week the puppy is all the rage and the next week everyone at the home forgets the dog even exists. But then again I would make it my duty to visit every weekend to make sure the pup is adjusting well and that its situation is up to my standards.
Well that’s enough on that situation. Tomorrow I go to the animal shelter and work with a beat Labrador to see if I can get him in shape to be adopted. Otherwise he will be put to sleep and I don’t want that. I see a Lab that has alot of potential but just started out with the wrong owners. (The owners were actually jailed and fined for the condition the Labrador was found in. This is the first time in our county anyone has been jailed over the mistreatment of animals and I think its awesome)
